2009 is the 40th Anniversary of the Des Moines Area Hunger Hike, and we want to celebrate the many congregations, agencies and individuals who have committed to reducing hunger. In the 22 years for which records are available, close to $900,000 has been collected for distribution to agencies local, national and international that provide FREE food.
People representing agencies, congregations, and many walkers at the Annual Distribution Supper in March 2009, heard a challenge from one of the board members: For the 2009 Hunger Hike, contribute at least $40 more than the highest amount given in the past. With current economic conditions, the need is increasing here in Des Moines and around the world, please join with many others and make this a record year. Together we can do it.
